Driver's Seat, 2023

These are eight self-portrait still photographs taken directly from film. The scenes shown are reenactments of popular cult classics, each containing dialogue extracted from the appropriated film said by the male lead. By switching the tone, I create a juxtaposition that twists reality by placing the female in control to alter the story's original narrative. When looking at these images, I leave viewers to consider the effects reversing power dynamics has on these classic films as we know them and how that changes our understanding of how women are traditionally portrayed in film.
